Bruce Thomas has always valued the creative aspects about the human condition. Throughout the ages the arts have played the foremost role in inspiring intrigue and wonderment in others. And, certainly, nothing touches us more than the imaginative.
Bruce has been an academic psychologist in higher education for more than 35 years. He spent his career teaching courses in personal growth and development. He has written many texts on the subject. His efforts were to enable students in finding new vistas of emotional freedom in a fresh mindset. Although trained in the rigors of academia, he saw merit in self-knowledge and expression which most academicians had a tendency dismiss as irrelevant. However, Bruce always followed the philosophical premise “Know Thyself.”(Socrates)
It is precisely this open minded spirit that sparked his own interest in various creative pursuits. For example, since he enjoyed storytelling, he began writing short stories and plays. Now, in his retirement, he writes plays. His most recent play is entitled, “A Tale of Two Seafaring Brave-Hearts.” It’s a 179 page play about two elderly men who challenge circumnavigating the globe as a final hurrah. It’s filled with adventure. Lastly, as a musician and instrumentalist, Bruce has composed and recorded over 80 songs.
